| This was
Villages Honor Flight's seventh flight taking WWII vets to DC to see the WWII
Memorial and other historic sites.
25 vets and 25 guardians departed American
Legion Post 347 early in the AM on their way to Orlando Airport and then
to DC. In DC they visited the the WWII, Korean War and Viet Nam
Memorials on the DC Mall, the USMC Memorial (aka the Iwo Jima
Memorial) and Arlington National Cemetery (where they viewed the
Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns).
Senator Bob Dole (who was more responsible for the WWII Memorial
than anyone else) was at the WWII Memorial Saturday afternoon.
Several of our vets were able to sit and chat with Senator Dole and
have pictures taken. Rolling Thunder was also in DC for
Memorial Day Weekend with over 100,000 bikers and their Harleys.
